The Famagusta district is one of six districts of Cyprus. Although the entire district covers an area of 1,985.3 km² (766.5 sq mi), only about 244 km² (94 sq mi) is under the de facto control of the Republic of Cyprus. The majority of the district, including its capital and largest city, Famagusta, has been under the rule of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus since the 1974 invasion. The district's population was 54,318 in 2021.
