Zhulian Temple is one of the three main temples in the Hsinchu area, along with Chenghuang Temple and Changhu Temple. As the oldest Buddhist temple in Hsinchu, Gia Lien Temple is a living treasure trove of the local agricultural and religious development.
The temple houses many relics from the Qing Dynasty, the most valuable of which are the three gilded terracotta statues of Guanyin (Goddess of Compassion) in the main hall, the statues of the Eighteen Arhats, and the "Compassion and Benevolence" stele bestowed by Emperor Guangxu of China.
