Mount Veve is an extinct volcano located on Kolombangara Island, in the Solomon Islands. Mount Veve is 1,768 meters (5,801 ft) high and is one of the highest peaks on the island. Kolombangara is part of the New Georgia archipelago and is located in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands.
Kennedy Island, also known as Plum Pudding Island, is a small, uninhabited island in the Solomon Islands, located in the Western Province. The island is named after John F. Kennedy, who during World War II was stranded on the island with his crew after their ship was sunk by a Japanese destroyer.
The Western Province is the largest of the nine provinces of the Solomon Islands. The region is known for its beautiful tropical islands, excellent scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities, World War II coral reefs and shipwrecks, ecotourism resorts, and headhunting temples. As of 2019, the province's population was 94,106. The provincial capital is Gizo.
