It is one of the most uniquely designed lighthouses along the Maine coast, with its square tower rising through the square watchtower and its black spire atop. Situated on Egg Rock Island, between Mount Desert Island and the Schoodic Peninsula, it is a functioning navigational aid that flashes red every 40 seconds. | |
