Steamtown National Historic Site, located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, is a museum and heritage railroad preservation complex. It was established in 1986 to preserve and interpret the history of steam railroading in the United States. The site is situated within a former locomotive yard and roundhouse complex of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad.
Located near the Steamtown National Historic Site, the Scranton Iron Furnaces represent the early iron industry in the United States. The four massive stone blast furnaces are the remnants of a once extensive plant operated by the Lackawanna Iron & Steel Company.
