Kern County is located in the southern part of the San Joaquin Valley in California, United States. It is one of the largest counties in the state by land area and is known for its diverse geography, including mountain ranges, deserts, and agricultural regions. As of 2019, the population was 900,202. Its county seat is Bakersfield.
Red Rock Canyon State Park features scenic desert cliffs, buttes and spectacular rock formations. The park is located where the southernmost tip of the Sierra Nevada converges with the El Paso Mountains.
