Thai Nguyen is a province in the Northeast region of Vietnam. It is a mountainous, midland province with a natural land area of 3,526.64 square kilometres (1,361.64 sq mi) and a population of 1,286,751 as of 2019. Its multi-ethnic society is composed of eight ethnic groups.
Hồ Núi Cốc (Núi Cốc lake) is a man-made lake, approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) west of the city of Thai Nguyen in Thai Nguyen Province, Vietnam, in Tam Dao National Park. It is a popular visitor attraction on account of the legend associated with the 89 islands within the lake. The lake has an area of 2,500 hectares (6,200 acres) with 23 metres (75 ft) deep waters.

Bac Kan is a province of Vietnam. It is located in the Northeast region, due north of the capital Hanoi. Bac Kan is the only town of the province which is the capital of the province and is amunicipality. The province covers an area of 4,859.4 square kilometres and as of 2019 it had a population of 313,905 people.
