| Cape Merry boasts a rich history and stunning natural beauty. It was once known as Knight's Rounded Point, aptly named after the area bordered by Hudson Bay and the Churchill River. A fortified artillery emplacement, constructed with stone walls to protect cannons from enemy fire, was built to defend the river and its estuary, and to deter enemy occupation of Cape Merry by creating crossfire. | |
