The Itsanitaq Museum houses one of the world's finest and oldest collections of Inuit carvings and artifacts, dating from the Pre-Dorset period (1700 BCE) through the Dorset, Thule, and modern Inuit periods. The Manitoba Heritage Council's stelae commemorate the presence of the Pre-Dorset and Dorset peoples who inhabited the area from 3000 to 1000 BCE.
