Po Lin Monastery is a Buddhist monastery located on Ngong Ping plateau, on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. It is one of the most famous and important Buddhist temples in Hong Kong, and is renowned for its grandeur and serene environment.
The monastery was founded in 1906 by three monks and originally served as a place for meditation and religious training. However, it was not until 1924 that the monastery began to attract significant numbers of visitors. In 1976, the bronze statue of the Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha) was erected on a nearby hill, further enhancing the monastery's status as a major tourist attraction.

Today, Po Lin Monastery is home to a number of important Buddhist relics, including the Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, a three-story-tall statue of Buddha, and a large wooden bell. The monastery also features a vegetarian restaurant, offering a variety of delicious vegetarian dishes, and a souvenir shop selling a range of Buddhist items, including prayer beads and incense.

Visitors to Po Lin Monastery can explore the beautiful grounds, which feature traditional Chinese architecture, colorful gardens, and stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The monastery is easily accessible by cable car, bus, or ferry, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike.
