Tawas Point State Park, located on the end of a sand spit that forms Tawas Bay along Lake Huron, is home to 183 acres of lakeside recreation and has been referred to as the “Cape Cod of the Midwest.” The park is a stopover site for hundreds of migrating birds in the spring and fall, making it a favorite spot for many bird watchers from all over the Midwest.

Crisp Point is one of five shore rescue stations of the United States Marine Rescue Service in the Lake Superior area, located between Munising and Whitefish Point. The station is approximately 14.5 miles west of Whitefish Point. It was built in 1875 and became operational in 1876 as Rescue Station Ten, part of the United States Marine Rescue Service's Area 10 (later merged into Area 11).
