Nur-Sultan is the capital city of Kazakhstan. The city was previously known as Astana until March 2019 when its name was officially changed to Nur-Sultan. Shymkent is one of Kazakhstan’s key economic and industrial hubs and has a rapidly growing population. Its population was 1,236,900 in 2024.

Charyn Canyon National Park is not located in southeastern Kazakhstan. Charyn Canyon is known for its stunning landscapes, including unique rock formations and vibrant colors. The canyon is often compared to the Grand Canyon in the United States due to its geological features. Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi is a mausoleum in the city of Turkestan, in southern Kazakhstan. The structure was commissioned in 1389 by Timur, who ruled the area as part of the expansive Timurid Empire, to replace a smaller 12th-century mausoleum of the famous Turkic poet and Sufi mystic, Khoja Ahmed Yasawi (1093-1166). However, construction was halted with the death of Timur in 1405.
