| The name Gur-e-Amir means "Tomb of the King" in Persian. The mausoleum is considered to be one of the most important examples of Timurid architecture, which flourished in Central Asia during the 14th and 15th centuries. The mausoleum is a square structure with a high dome, decorated with intricate geometric patterns and calligraphy. It is made of brick and covered with turquoise tiles. Inside, there is a chamber where Timur is buried, along with several of his descendants. The interior of the mausoleum is also adorned with colorful tiles and intricate carvings. The walls are covered with verses from the Quran and other religious texts, as well as images of angels and other religious figures.
