Read Mountain Preserve is a 243-acre park located in Roanoke County, Virginia. The preserve features a 5-mile trail system that offers moderate to strenuous hiking experiences. The main attraction is the 2-mile Buzzards Rock Trail, leading to the summit known as Buzzards Rock, which provides one of the best views in the Roanoke Valley.
Located in downtown Roanoke’s century-old freight station, The Virginia Museum of Transportation has been collecting and preserving the Commonwealth's transportation history since 1963. It is recognized as The Commonwealth's Official Transportation Museum by the General Assembly and houses a great collection of steam, diesel, and electric locomotives.
