Emperor Thiệu Trị, son of Minh Mang, reigned for only seven years and did not have the opportunity to build his own mausoleum during his lifetime. After his death, his remains were temporarily kept at Long An Temple, which the Emperor himself had built in 1845. His son, Tu Duc, built this permanent mausoleum in 1848.
Emperor Thieu Tri was the third emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty in Vietnam, reigning from 1841 until his death in 1847. He was the second son of Emperor Minh Mang, born on August 16, 1807, in Hue, the capital of Vietnam.

Thieu Tri was known for his thirst for knowledge and his interest in Confucianism, a field he studied extensively. He continued his father's policies of centralization and administrative reform, while also seeking to expand Vietnam's borders through military campaigns.

During his reign, Emperor Thieu Tri faced numerous challenges, including rebellions by ethnic minorities in the highlands and tensions with France, which was expanding its colonial presence in Southeast Asia. He also struggled to balance the demands of Confucianism with the pressures of modernization and external influences.

Thieu Tri died on November 4, 1847, at the age of 40, and was succeeded by his son, Emperor Tu Duc. He is remembered as a brilliant king and scholar who left a legacy of intellectual achievement and cultural patronage.
