| In 1306, emperor Tran Anh Tong arranged for his sister, Princess Huyen Tran, to marry the Champa King JayaSinhavarman III. This marriage was seen as adiplomatic move to strengthen relations between Vietnam and Champa, which were neighboring countries with ahistory of both conflict and trade. As part of the marriage agreement, the Champaking gave the Vietnamese emperor two provinces, Chau O and Chau Ly (today these provinces are Quang Binh Province, Quang Tri Province and Thua Thien-Hue Province), as adowry. This arrangement was not uncommon in the region at the time, as royal marriages were often used as away to form alliances and establish peace between neighboring kingdoms. After Princess Huyen Tran's marriage to the Champaking, she became known as Queen Paramecvariin of Champa. Although she was no longer living in Vietnam, she continued to be an important cultural figure in both Vietnam and Champa.
