The Stax Museum of American Soul Music, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is the world's only museum dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of Stax Records and American soul music. The museum covers the cultural and musical history of Stax Records, which was known for its unique Memphis soul sound and its role in breaking racial barriers during a time of high racial tension.
The museum stands on the original site of the Stax Records studio, which operated from 1960 to 1975 and was instrumental in launching the careers of iconic artists such as Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, Sam & Dave, Rufus Thomas, Carla Thomas, and many others.

The Stax Museum features over 3,000 items of memorabilia and artifacts, including interactive exhibits, films, vintage musical instruments used in the studio, stage costumes, photographs, records, and original recording equipment.
