Rwanda, officially known as the Republic of Rwanda, is a landlocked country located in East-Central Africa. Rwanda is situated in the African Great Lakes region and is bordered by Uganda to the north, Tanzania to the east, Burundi to the south, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. The country is characterized by a hilly and mountainous terrain, earning it the nickname Land of a Thousand Hills.
Capital: The capital city of Rwanda is Kigali, which is also the largest city in the country. Kigali is known for its cleanliness, orderliness, and rapid urban development.

Population: As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Rwanda had a population of approximately 12 million people. However, it's important to note that population figures can change over time.

Official Languages: The official languages of Rwanda are Kinyarwanda, French, and English. Kinyarwanda is the most widely spoken language among the population.

Government: Rwanda is a presidential republic with a multi-party political system. The President of Rwanda is both the head of state and head of government. Paul Kagame has been the President since 2000, following the end of the Rwandan Civil War.

Genocide and Recovery: Rwanda is unfortunately known for the Rwandan Genocide that occurred in 1994 when ethnic tensions between the Hutu and Tutsi populations led to a brutal genocide in which an estimated 800,000 people were killed. Since then, Rwanda has made significant strides in reconciliation, justice, and socio-economic development, becoming one of Africa's success stories in terms of recovery and development.

Economy: Rwanda's economy has experienced growth in recent years, driven by sectors like agriculture, services, and information technology. Coffee and tea are important exports. The government has also been proactive in promoting business-friendly policies and innovation.

Wildlife and Conservation: Rwanda is known for its commitment to conservation efforts. Volcanoes National Park, located in the northwest, is famous for its mountain gorilla population and plays a vital role in gorilla conservation. Akagera National Park, in the east, is known for its diverse wildlife, including lions, elephants, and hippos.

Cultural Heritage: Rwanda has a rich cultural heritage, with traditional dance, music, and art playing important roles in the country's cultural identity. The Rwandan people have a long history of storytelling and oral tradition.

Tourism: Rwanda has been actively promoting itself as a tourist destination, with a focus on ecotourism, wildlife safaris, and cultural experiences. In addition to gorilla trekking, tourists can explore the country's beautiful landscapes and vibrant cities.
