Idyllwild is a mountain resort town located in the San Jacinto Mountains in Riverside County, California. The town is situated at an elevation of approximately 5,413 feet above sea level and covers an area of approximately 14 square miles. Idyllwild–Pine Cove's population was 3,874 at the 2010 census.

Marion Mountain Campground is open from late May through mid November and is comprised of 25 individual campsites (16 reserved and 9 first-come-first-serve sites). The facility is in an alpine forest of pine, cedar, and oak trees at 6,400 feet elevation. Many of the campsites offer panoramic views of sunsets and the surrounding mountain ranges.
