Alpine is a census-designated place in the Cuyamaca Mountains of San Diego County, California. Alpine had a population of 14,236 at the 2010 census, up from 13,143 at the 2000 census.

Palo Verde Ranch is one of a few equestrian residential developments in San Diego County that allows homeowners to keep horses on site. The "Ranch" consists of 233 parcels, ranging from 2 to 8 acres. Residents can swim, fish, sail, kayak and use their electric motor boats in the big lake.
