Inside the infamous Cave Store, a century-old bootlegger's tunnel leads through the sandstone cliffs of La Jolla Cove into Sunny Jim's sea cave. Tours are self-guided, and approximately 15 minutes in duration. This tunnel was dug out by two Chinese laborers hired by German artist, mining engineer, and entrepreneur Gustav Schultz in 1902.

At its top, there is an approximately 5’ by 6’ foot hole that at one time went down about 4’ There are several stories as to how the excavation came to be.

Coast Walk is a small but exceptionally beautiful scenic walk off Torrey Pines Road just to the north of Prospect Street. It’s a fun sandy trek that the entire family will enjoy, but bring sunblock as it can take a while to travel the whole way, especially since there are many great places to stop and play.

The scene off the coast of La Jolla is usually bustling with activity. You’ll see kayakers glide through the water, swimmers head out for morning exercise, and the occasional snorkeler leisurely surface and submerge. What they’re all actually doing is enjoying a somewhat hidden gem at the 6000-acre La Jolla Underwater Park.
