It is open to the public every morning except Monday. Construction work began on September 2, 1973, and the mausoleum was formally inaugurated on August 29, 1975. It was inspired by Lenin's Mausoleum in Moscow but incorporates distinct Vietnamese architectural elements, such as the sloping roof. The exterior is made of grey granite, while the interior is grey, black and red polished stone. The body of Ho Chi Minh is embalmed and lies in aglass coffin in the central hall of the mausoleum. The coffin is surrounded by amilitary honor guard and visitors are required to dress respectfully. The mausoleum is surrounded by a large park and there are several other historical buildings on the site, including the Ho Chi Minh Museum and the Presidential Palace. Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is a popular tourist destination and is visited by millions of people each year. It is asymbol of national pride and areminder of the sacrifices made by the Vietnamese people in their struggle for independence. | |
