Hakusan National Park is one of Japan's most famous mountain national parks, encompassing Mount Hakusan and surrounding areas, covering a total area of 47,700 hectares. One hundred million years ago, the area that is now Hakusan was the bottom of a lake. After numerous volcanic eruptions, the lake's water level gradually rose, forming a volcano. Hakusan National Park has been a revered mountain since ancient times.
This national park spans four prefectures: Ishikawa, Fukui, Gifu, and Toyama, encompassing a mountain range over 2,000 meters high stretching from north to south, with the highest peaks being Gozengamine (2,702 meters), Onanjigamine (2,684 meters), and Kengamine (2,677 meters). Mount Hakusan offers rich ecological beauty, with peaks covered in lush alpine vegetation, vast primeval oak forests, and diverse flora and fauna, along with numerous hot springs erupting from deep valleys at the foot of the mountain.
