San Mateo County is a county located in the state of California, United States. It is situated on the San Francisco Peninsula and is part of the San Francisco Bay Area region. The county covers an area of approximately 741 square miles and has a population of around 770,000 people.

Bair Island is composed of three islands: Inner, Middle and Outer, totaling approximately 3,000 acres of former salt ponds once owned by Cargill. Approximately 2,000 acres are within the Bair Island Ecological Reserve on the Middle and Outer islands. The remainder of the islands are part of the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge.

Sea Cloud Park has been called the "sporting gem" of the Peninsula. It is the home for many Foster City youth sports organizations and offers more than 23 acres of baseball diamonds, soccer fields, lawn area, play apparatus, snack shack, batting cages, and restrooms.

Leo J. Ryan Memorial Park is situated on 20acre which overlook Foster City's lagoon. The park houses the William E. Walker Recreation Center, and includes a waterfront, outdoor amphitheatre, sailboat tie-up facilities, boardwalk, lawn areas, and a gazebo on the lake.
