Claremont is a suburban city on the eastern edge of Los Angeles County, California, 30 miles (48 km) east of downtown Los Angeles. It is in the Pomona Valley, at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 34,926, and in 2019 the estimated population was 36,266.

Potato Mountain is a mountain near Claremont, California at the southern edge of the San Gabriel Mountains. It is one of the first mountains visitors encounter entering the Angeles National Forest. Its summit is about 3,422 feet above sea level.

Mt. Baldy Wilderness Preserve is a park located in Claremont, California offering parking and trail connections, river, rock formations, and native landscapes. There are no public restrooms or drinking fountains, and there is limited cellphone service.
