Claremont is a suburban city on the eastern edge of Los Angeles County, California, 30 miles (48 km) east of downtown Los Angeles. It is in the Pomona Valley, at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 34,926, and in 2019 the estimated population was 36,266.

Mt. Baldy Wilderness Preserve is a park located in Claremont, California offering parking and trail connections, river, rock formations, and native landscapes. There are no public restrooms or drinking fountains, and there is limited cellphone service.

The Claremont Hills Wilderness Park (5 Mile Loop Trail) is located at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains and the Angeles National Forest. The park offers a five mile walking loop and smaller trails.
