Kern County is located in the southern part of the San Joaquin Valley in California, United States. It is one of the largest counties in the state by land area and is known for its diverse geography, including mountain ranges, deserts, and agricultural regions. As of 2019, the population was 900,202. Its county seat is Bakersfield.

The Glen Olive Wilderness Retreat is located in the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains in the Sequoia National Forest on 520 acres of private land that has access to the Glen Olive Mine, Bodfish Creek and indigenous relics. The Glen Olive Wilderness Retreat offers secluded camping, RV camping, small group events and endless adventures.

Silver City Ghost Town is now operated as a museum to the Kern Valley's long and colorful history. The Apalatea/Burlando House which is believed to be the oldest standing structure in the Valley houses a saloon and country store. Thousands of artifacts are on display throughout the property.
