Batu Caves is a limestone hill located in Selangor, Malaysia, which is home to a series of caves and cave temples. The caves are a popular tourist attraction and are considered one of the most important Hindu shrines outside of India.
The caves are made up of three main caves and several smaller ones, with the largest and most popular cave being the Cathedral Cave. This cave features a high ceiling and several Hindu shrines and statues, including a 140-feet tall statue of Lord Murugan, the Hindu god of war and victory.

To reach the Cathedral Cave, visitors must climb 272 steps that lead up to the entrance of the cave. The climb can be challenging, especially in hot and humid weather, but the stunning views of the surrounding area make it worth the effort.

The Batu Caves also host an annual Hindu festival called Thaipusam, which draws thousands of devotees who come to offer prayers and make penance. During the festival, devotees carry kavadis, or ornate frames, on their shoulders, and some even pierce their bodies with hooks and skewers as a form of devotion.

Overall, the Batu Caves are an important cultural and religious destination in Malaysia. Its stunning natural beauty, unique Hindu shrines, and cultural significance make it a must-visit attraction for anyone visiting Selangor or Kuala Lumpur.
