São Tomé and Príncipe is an island nation located in the Gulf of Guinea, off the west equatorial coast of Central Africa. The country comprises two archipelagos surrounding the two main islands of São Tomé and Príncipe, separated by approximately 150 km and situated about 250 and 225 km respectively from the northwestern coast of Gabon. The population of the island nation was 220,372 in 2023.
