Belle Grove Plantation is a late-18th-century plantation house and estate built in 1797, located near Middletown, Virginia, in the Shenandoah Valley. Built by Major Isaac Hite Jr. and his wife, Nelly Madison Hite—sister of President James Madison—the farm originally spanned 7,500 acres, cultivated by slave labor to produce grain, raise livestock, and operate milling plants.
