From tall trees to water-carved ravines, colorful prairies and meadows to the scenic Twin Creek corridor, this park traverses some of the region’s most beautiful landscape.
Battelle Darby Creek features 7,358 acres of forest, prairies and wetlands. It stretches along 13 miles of the Big and Little Darby creeks, both State and National Scenic Rivers. Besides the areas surrounding the creeks, there are also over 1,600 acres of restored wetlands and prairies. Bison have been reintroduced to the park and roam freely within two enclosed pastures.
Carlisle is the largest of the Lorain County Metro Parks, encompassing 1,917 acres when included with Forest Hills Golf Course which lies at the northeastern end. Carlisle Reservation also offers a large variety of events and activities throughout the year, and is home to the administrative offices for the entire park system.
The Huron Harbor Lighthouse, located in Huron, Ohio, was built in 1936 and stands 72 feet tall. It marks the entrance to Huron Harbor and is constructed of steel, replacing earlier wooden structures that were destroyed by storms. The lighthouse was automated in 1972 and features a solar-powered beacon visible for 12 miles, flashing red every six seconds.

West Creek Reservation is a 350+ acre natural park surrounded by residential neighborhoods and leased to Cleveland Metroparks by the City of Parma and West Creek Conservancy. The Reservation preserves the natural character of their public parkland with its hills, valley, meadow, woodlands, and creek. It remains the home of a variety of trees, plants, birds, animals, amphibians and insects.
Situated along the Stillwater River, this 88-acre gem of the Dayton area offers beautiful formal gardens, a children's garden and woodland walks. Lush in spring and summer, and ablaze with color in the fall, the Stillwater River Trail provides cyclists, runners and walkers serene and diverse terrain.

Camping and picnicking season extends from May through September, except at Vesuvius Recreation Area where camping is permitted year-round.
