Buckeye Pheasant Hunting Preserve is Ohio’s premier pheasant hunting destination, offering guided hunts and over 195 acres of prime highland bird habitat. Head to Buckeye Pheasant Ranch for some of the best guided birding in Southwest Ohio. They offer guided highland hunts, hounds and gear, and some of the best bird dogs.
Battelle Darby Creek features 7,358 acres of forest, prairies and wetlands. It stretches along 13 miles of the Big and Little Darby creeks, both State and National Scenic Rivers. Besides the areas surrounding the creeks, there are also over 1,600 acres of restored wetlands and prairies. Bison have been reintroduced to the park and roam freely within two enclosed pastures.
Carlisle is the largest of the Lorain County Metro Parks, encompassing 1,917 acres when included with Forest Hills Golf Course which lies at the northeastern end. Carlisle Reservation also offers a large variety of events and activities throughout the year, and is home to the administrative offices for the entire park system.
The Wayne National Forest is located in the south-eastern part of the US state of Ohio, in the Unglaciated Allegheny Plateau. It encompasses over 160,000 acres. Camping and picnicking season extends from May through September, except at Vesuvius Recreation Area where camping is permitted year-round.
