Fort Boreman is a historic archaeological site encompassing a Civil War fortification located near Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. It is a series of paired, approximately four foot deep trenches encircling the top of the hill in a zigzag pattern.

Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park is a state park located on Blennerhassett Island, a small island in the Ohio River, located in Wood County, West Virginia. A grove of towering black walnut trees, twittering songbirds, and an air of opulent serenity greet visitors as they step onto Blennerhassett Island — a patch of about 500 acres in the middle of the Ohio River with a history all its own.

Oil & Gas Museum highlights the history and present day impact of oil and gas in the Appalachian Basin, the largest reserve of oil and gas in the world. This nationally recognized museum presents the intriguing history of the oil and gas industry, including how the accumulation of wealth from oil impacted West Virginia’s statehood. Also expanded displays on the Civil War and local industries.

The Julia-Ann Square Historic District encompasses all houses on Ann and Juliana Streets from Riverview Cemetery to 9th Street. There are 116 contributing buildings and one contributing site. The majority of the houses were constructed between 1875 and 1915.
